Hi! My name is Lizzy and welcome to lizzypowers.com, a place where I share my love of beautiful design, the great outdoors and the things that inspire me. From everyday outfit styling and home makeovers on a millennial budget, to wedding planning hacks you’ll actually want to use, I’m excited to put everything I’ve learned in one place and hopefully you will enjoy it, too!
Born and raised in Los Angeles, I recently packed up my tiny Culver City bungalow with my husband, Zach, and our dog and cat (the dog and cat didn’t help much with the packing) and went east to the mountains of Colorado! We now call Littleton our home and couldn’t be happier. Growing up I spent a lot of time outdoors, and Zach and I hike and camp on a regular basis, so Colorado was a natural fit for us. Now we just need to convince our friends and family to move here and we’ll be set.
My day-to-day style is very down to earth. I’m not a heels girl, unless it’s an ankle boot. I believe you can look just as good while still being comfortable. I also believe you don’t have to blow your whole budget to look great and keep up with trends. I feel the same way about home décor – you can make your space beautiful without spending your savings. Let’s be real, all our money is going to rent, anyway.
A few things about me: My first job was as an assistant technical designer for Monique Lhuillier, followed by two jobs in shoe design working for TOMS and Skechers. I now run my own business called Lizzy Powers Design that started with custom wedding invitations and is expanding to include home products and other fun items. I taught myself Photoshop when I was 8. I am a huge fan of The Office and Parks and Rec and quote them regularly (excessively). I love personality tests and wish it was socially acceptable to ask people their Myers-Briggs upon meeting them. I’m working my way towards learning all the words to Hamilton and I’m not far off. I currently can’t stop listening to My Favorite Murder because my friends got me hooked. When I was a kid and people asked me what I wanted to be when I grow up, I said “a dog.” Still kinda wish that!
I’m so happy you found my blog and I really hope you get something out of it! I’ve been wanting to start this for a long time and kept letting fear and excuses stand in the way. There are so many different things I love and am passionate about, so it just makes sense to put it all together. This is my happy place and I hope it becomes yours, too!
Thank you so much for stopping by!
